MarineVision kits are now used on many yachts, including RORC series leaders Fidessa Fastwave. Fidessa Fastwave is a DK46 and has a very impressive set of results in her first season using this technology. See her fantastic results. Her sister ship, Erivale, has also achieved great results since fitting a HHXRT in time for the RORC Morgan Cup race (June 2005) by coming 2nd to Fidessa, getting her best result so far that season. MarineVision chose the Waterproof Computer Tablet approach for all its systems in order to maximise the use of the hardware both onboard and off. Our high end Weatherproof products can be taken on deck in almost all conditions and will even survive dropping into the water. The iX104 even floats, so you stand a good chance of recovering if lost overboard.

We have also recently introduced options for products at an IP54 (iX104) and IP64(RT) rating. This is for those customers who are looking for a lower cost solution which is price comparable to the Panasonic IP54 rated ToughBook wireless screen, whose Transreflective version has been recently end of lifed. The IP54/IP64 allows us to offer lower prices, but still maintain most of the advantages listed below. The difference is that IP67 effectively means waterproof and IP54/IP64 means shower or rain proof.

Other unique advantages of using the ruggerdised Tablet PC approach, are:-

• The expensive hardware can stay with you all the time, improving security
• There is no need for a PC below deck. Therefore no vulnerable point in the system
• You can use the Tablet at home or at work, therefore maximising its value
• Standard Wifi interface options can be included, allowing broadband access in Marinas
• A GPS module can be included internally, allowing for a complete stand alone IP67 rated nav station in case the on board instruments fail
• A IP67 rated GSM/GPRS module can be fitted internally, allowing dial up communications almost anywhere in any conditions
